Your Heart

Your Heart

God is the shaper of your heart. . . . God does not display his work in abstract terms. He prefers the concrete, and this means that at the end of your life one of three things will happen to your heart: it will grow hard, it will be broken, or it will be tender. Nobody escapes.

Ravi Zacharias

I know the condition of your heart. Recent pressures have made you question why a loving God would allow you to endure hardship. Sometimes you’ve wondered why My people help everyone else but don’t appear to see your needs. When you allow negative attitudes, judgmental thoughts, or faulty reasoning to shape the deepest part of your being, a slow, steady hardening begins to take place. At first you barely notice it. But cynicism, a critical spirit, a lack of interest in My Word, and a gradual pulling away from My people soon follow—and before long, there is distance between us.

Allow your heart to be broken by things that break My heart: injustice, sin, and the results of living in a fallen world. Ask Me to keep the inner core of your being—your thoughts, feelings, desires, and choices—focused on My truth. Allow Me to be the Sculptor of your heart.

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
