Words Matter

The right word at the right time can be life altering. Words are able to uplift, encourage, and provide wisdom to the hearer. But an unkind word can hurt, crush, and destroy the person who is listening. Words are powerful. What comes out of your mouth can transform the life of someone who needs faith, healing, favor, or hope—or your words can cause that person to run far away from Me.

Evaluate what comes out of your mouth. “Kind words are like honey—sweet to the soul and healthy for the body” (Proverbs 16:24). However, a warning is in order. “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen” (Ephesians 4:29, NIV). The choice is yours—do you want to build up or to tear down?

The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.
