Whirlwinds

Whirlwinds

I believe that suffering is part of the narrative, and that nothing really good gets built when everything’s easy. I believe that loss and emptiness and confusion often give way to new fullness and wisdom.

Shauna Niequist

Right now life feels like a hurricane that has lifted you off your feet and thrown you in an unexpected and uncomfortable direction. You can hardly breathe, much less stand up and start living in a productive way. Celebrate this moment. The time when you experience great loss and emptiness is when you hear My voice best. “You’re blessed when you feel you’ve lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you” (Matthew 5:4, MSG). Sometimes your whirlwind isn’t physical—it’s emotional and spiritual due to people who have questioned your faith or verbally attacked you because of your relationship with Me. Remember this: “You’re blessed when your commitment to God provokes persecution. The persecution drives you even deeper into God’s kingdom” (Matthew 5:10, MSG).

When you are weak, I am strong. When your thoughts are swirling because of adversity, you depend upon Me more than when you believe you can handle everything yourself. Build your life on the firm foundation of faith in My Son, Jesus Christ, and you will withstand the storms of life triumphantly.

When the whirlwind passes by, the wicked is no more, but the righteous has an everlasting foundation.

Proverbs 10:25, NKJV
