Bonus Benefits

Bonus Benefits

All of a sudden it dawned on me that God was saying to me, “Why don’t you take what you have and what you are—your being—and I will take what I have and what I am—my being—and we will share.” I began to see . . . that I had stumbled on to the bargain of a lifetime.

Tap into the benefits I’ve provided for you. You read in My Word that I’ve given you great and precious promises and that through them you can “participate in [My] divine nature” (2 Peter 1:4, NIV). Envision reaching up to Me with all your might. Picture My hand grasping yours, and hear Me speak these words over you: “You don’t have enough strength, but I have plenty. You don’t have enough unconditional love, but I can help you. You don’t have enough endurance, but I do. You don’t have enough patience, but I am long-suffering. You don’t have enough grace, but I specialize in unmerited favor. You don’t think you can make it through the day, but with Me, you can!”

Suddenly, you realize you’ve stumbled onto bonus benefits. Every time you run low on love, compassion, strength, wisdom, endurance, or perseverance, you can partner with Me. You will always have enough because you have entered a relationship where you have “come to share the very being of God” (2 Peter 1:4, NEB).

And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
