Unfulfilled Dreams

Perhaps disappointed dreams are our best opportunities to transfer hope to its rightful place. Heaven is where our biggest dreams belong. Realizing that can help us make it through the here and now without placing a burden on the present that it was never meant to bear.

You had big dreams for how your life would unfold, but there have been some disappointments along the way. Many of your hopes for the future seem unreachable, and your dreams have submitted to the reality of the here and now. Discouragement has set in, and there are days when you feel like giving up. But you’ve been misplacing your hopes and dreams. This earth will never resemble heaven. If you understand that your best dreams will be fulfilled in another place, you can get through the tough stuff of this life more easily. It’s a matter of focus. “Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth” (Colossians 3:2, NASB).

To transfer your unfulfilled dreams to a firm future reality, remember that heaven provides mansion accommodations (John 14:2, NKJV); it’s a place of rest for the afflicted and troubled (2 Thessalonians 1:7); it provides eternal life (Matthew 25:46); and it’s a Kingdom that cannot be shaken (Hebrews 12:28). Those descriptions will fill your heart with hope! When unfulfilled dreams distract you, remain faithful and keep your eye on the prize—a life with Me forever and ever. It won’t be long until you get there. Hold on!

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me. . . . And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.
