The presence of fear does not mean you have no faith. Fear visits everyone. But make your fear a visitor and not a resident.
Max Lucado
Current news brings too much anxiety. You read of wars, rumors of wars, hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, viruses, antibiotic-resistant bacteria, fluctuating financial markets, political turmoil, racial unrest and demonstrations. Humanly speaking, you have much to fear. But when you read My Word, you’ll discover that the world has been on the brink of disaster on numerous occasions. Don’t worry or lose hope because nothing can thwart My purposes.
When fear begins to make you uneasy, turn your worries into prayers. Speak to Me often about what’s going on in your personal life and in the world. Review the words of the psalmist: “The angel of the LORD is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him” (Psalm 34:7). “We will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea” (Psalm 46:2). “When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you” (Psalm 56:3). As My Son’s return to earth draws near, there will be turmoil in the world. You can choose fear or faith. If you choose faith, you will remind everyone around you that all these signs point to Christ’s coming. Let that news make you excited. It won’t be long.
People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth. . . . Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on a cloud with power and great glory. So when all these things begin to happen, stand and look up, for your salvation is near!
Luke 21:26-28
