Seasons

Everything has seasons, and we have to be able to recognize when something’s time has passed and be able to move into the next season. Everything that is alive requires pruning as well, which is a great metaphor for endings.

Learn to recognize the season of life you are in and to accept change, even if it’s uncomfortable for a while. There is a progression in life from the challenge of winter to the first breath of spring, to the growth of summer, to the harvesting of fall. Sometimes you want to stay where you are indefinitely, and at other times you want to move prematurely to a different season. When you face uncertainties, remember My faithfulness to you in the past (Lamentations 3:22).

During the season of planting, it may look like nothing positive is happening in your life. It’s a time of watering and nurturing, long before the bountiful harvest can be seen. But in time, you will experience the fruit of your righteousness. The most difficult challenge for you may be the season of pruning. “He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more” (John 15:2). Pruning is necessary so more fruit can be produced. Every season is a gift from Me. Don’t get tired of doing what’s right. At just the right time, you’ll reap a harvest of blessing, if you don’t give up (Galatians 6:9).

For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest.
