Discipline
Discipline
Discipline is the wholehearted yes to the call of God. . . . I put myself gladly, fully, and forever at His disposal, and to whatever He says my answer is yes.
Elisabeth Elliot
Discipline is a word that sometimes makes you uncomfortable. You think of it as chastisement for wrongdoing and equate it with harsh rebuke. Today I’m asking you to look at another aspect of discipline. As you commit your life to My purpose and plan, be intentional about sacrificing everything it takes to serve Me in the most effective way. That kind of spiritual discipline means setting aside time every day to read My Word, and then meditating on how you can live a pure life and show My love to others.
As you make this discipline a regular part of your routine, there will be a natural rhythm to the way you read, listen, and respond to My truth. Add further discipline by doing physical exercise each day. That will clear your mind and give you more energy to focus on your daily responsibilities and on serving others. You will begin looking forward to the new doors I’m opening for you because you have become My trusted servant. In the beginning, personal discipline is hard—but the long-term benefits are worth it!
All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.
1 Corinthians 9:25
