Salt And Light
Salt And Light
Jesus said that we are “the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world.” Being salt and light is not optional. Jesus did not say you can be . . . or you have the potential to be . . . He said you are.

Salt is a highly effective preservative—and that’s what I want you to be in this world. All around you are signs of moral decay and a culture that is falling away from honorable living. As My representative, you are an influence for good. Keep in mind that salt becomes useless when it is contaminated. Likewise, you must remain pure in your thoughts and actions to represent Me well. Let the salt-seasoning of your life flavor your daily activities. When others see the benefits of your vibrant faith, they will consider what I can do for them.
Become a lighthouse of hope for those who are floundering—people who need Jesus but don’t know how to change their lives. Your positive attitude, your words, your compassion, and your genuine interest in them will open a door for conversation about the only way to eternal life with Me—faith in Jesus Christ. Your joy in the midst of suffering illuminates the difference My peace makes when life is hard. People will be curious, and they’ll ask, “What is the source of your hope? How can I find the inner strength you have?” That’s your opportunity to whet their appetites for a relationship with Me.
You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? . . . You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
Matthew 5:13-14
