Renewing the mind . . . involves taking off the old and replacing it with the new. The old is the lies you have learned to tell or were taught by those around you. . . . The new is the truth. To renew your mind is to involve yourself in the process of allowing God to bring to the surface the lies you have mistakenly accepted and replace them with truth.

Today is a brand-new day. Instead of focusing on past mistakes or your current limitations, look at Me and say, “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13). Walk in that truth. The enemy flashes statements in front of you: You’re too weak to stay away from that old habit. You’re too hurt to forgive that person. You’re too unimportant to matter to God. You’re too damaged to be loved unconditionally. When you allow Me to renew your mind, you actively replace those lies with My truth.

The key to renewing your mind is to study and meditate on My Word. Read a verse and then think about it intently. Memorize Scripture that replaces the enemy’s taunts with My promises. The more you know My Word, the more you will have strength to stand up to the oppressor and the more you will become like Christ. “Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives” (Colossians 3:16). As you stand in His likeness, the enemy flees.
