Refuge

Refuge

Where does your security lie? Is God your refuge, your hiding place, your stronghold, your shepherd, your counselor, your friend, your redeemer, your saviour, your guide? If He is, you don’t need to search any further for security.

Elisabeth Elliot

What do you face today? There may be obstacles, pressures, obligations, and hard decisions ahead of you. It’s tempting to choose fear instead of faith. Invite Me to provide a haven for you. I will be your hiding place, and there you will find shelter from the chaos that surrounds you. Call out My name and take comfort in these words: “The name of the LORD is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10).

When you turn to Me for help and protection, you’ll begin to know Me as your refuge. Don’t be afraid of people or situations that threaten your physical or emotional well-being. Nothing you will ever face is out of My control. Stay close to Me, and you will always be safe. Remain in the center of My will, and you will have no cause for fear. When difficulties come, boldly say, “My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me” (Psalm 62:7). I am your ever-present help whenever you are dealing with stressful situations.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Psalm 46:1, NIV
