Hungry
Hungry
Hunger for God compels us to seek the Lord. At times our desire for God overcomes our physical desires, and the ache for God is palpable. . . . When we seek God with our whole hearts and souls, he promises to reveal himself to us.

I am drawn to you when you hunger for Me with your whole heart. I look down from heaven on the entire human race and look for people who are seeking Me (Psalm 53:2). There are times when you look for Me out of desperation and other times when you need guidance for living. I’m always available to you, and I love being your Helper during everyday activities. But when you come to Me out of hunger for My presence, I sense your desire to be close to Me. I feel the ache in your soul for the intimacy that brings deep connection, loving oneness, and abiding trust.
David captured similar thoughts in a psalm written to Me: “I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you” (Psalm 63:1, NIV). When you desire Me in that way, I love satisfying your deep spiritual hunger and thirst. The world offers substitutes for Me that look attractive, but they only bring passing enjoyment. Invite Me to be the Strength of your heart and your Portion forever (Psalm 73:26, NIV). Taste and see that I am good (Psalm 34:8). Passionately embrace the sweetness of our relationship as I fill you with contentment, security, love, and peace.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Matthew 5:6, NIV
