The biblical model is that God deliberately chooses imperfect vessels—those who have been wounded, those with physical or emotional limitations. Then he prepares them to serve and sends them out with their weakness still in evidence, so that his strength can be made perfect in that weakness.

Stop making excuses for not serving Me with your whole heart. If you wait until you think you’re spiritual enough, or educated enough, or good enough, or attractive enough, or confident enough, or skilled enough, you’ll discover there’s never a time when you are adequate in your own strength. Get over it and offer Me what you have right now. I can work with people who know they need My help much more effectively than with those who think they have it all together.

Don’t use your weakness as an excuse for not doing what I’m asking you to do. I love working with imperfect people. Moses couldn’t speak well (Exodus 4:10). Jeremiah thought he was too young (Jeremiah 1:6). Jonah had an attitude and an obedience problem (Jonah 1–3). The disciples were afraid (Matthew 14:26). Paul had a thorn in the flesh (2 Corinthians 12:7). Are you going to keep telling Me you’re inadequate, or will you allow My power to shine through your weakness? Come to Me with your limitations and apprehension, and I’ll take care of the rest. Your weakness is your strongest qualification.
