Balance - He Holds My Hand

Balance

I cannot meet every need, but I can respond in obedience to the need the Spirit lays on my heart. I cannot carry every load, but I can carry the load God has for me. For his yoke, indeed, is easy, and his burden is truly light.

Joanna Weaver

One of your greatest challenges is finding balance in your life. The demands of your work are great, and many people pull at you for advice, assistance, and help with their problems. You are weary, and there is never enough time. Like the psalmist, you long for Me to lighten your load: “I am worn out waiting for your rescue, but I have put my hope in your word” (Psalm 119:81).

Study the example of My Son. In one day He did miracles, taught lessons, healed people, dealt with interruptions, and defused disputes with truth (Mark 1). It was the kind of day when most people would throw their hands in the air and say, “I can’t handle this anymore!” But He did—and somehow He still maintained balance in His life. His actions early the next day give you the key to His success: “Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray” (Mark 1:35). He began each day by spending time alone with Me. Were there more miracles to perform? More lessons to teach? More people who begged for healing? More interruptions? Yes. There will always be more to do, and you will never have enough time. Seek My will and complete the work I give you to do (John 17:4).

Are you tired? Worn out? . . . Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
