Persistent Prayer
Persistent Prayer
Prayer lays hold of God’s plan and becomes the link between His will and its accomplishment on earth. Amazing things happen, and we are given the privilege of being the channels of the Holy Spirit’s prayer.
Elisabeth Elliot
Make a habit of persistently praying at all times. That doesn’t mean you have to be alone in a quiet room every minute of each day. It means following the apostle Paul’s advice: “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, NIV). Get up each day and talk to Me about your joys—what good things are happening in your life? Throughout the day, keep speaking with Me, sometimes with words and at other times with thoughts, lifting your own concerns and talking to Me about the needs in your home, your community, and your world. Ask Me to intervene in the hard tasks and impossible situations you are facing.
Then move to thanksgiving. The most challenging part of prayer is to express your gratitude for the difficulties that I’ve allowed to enter your life. Thank Me for the lessons learned, for the closeness we’ve experienced as you struggle to find meaning in the chaos. Don’t give up. You matter to Me, and your persistent prayers move Me to action.
Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
Matthew 7:7
