Peace

Peace

Expectations destroy our peace of mind. They are future disappointments, planned out in advance.

Elizabeth George

The peace I give defies common sense and natural reasoning. It calms the mind and heart. It brings comfort in the middle of physical pain and devastating disappointments.

My peace makes no sense when chaos is all around you. It’s a totally different kind of peace than the world offers. When life turns out differently from your plan, focusing on your own desires and expectations will only increase your fear. Worry takes over, and you feel uncertain, insecure, and afraid.

You have a choice. You can blame your circumstances, your family, your boss, or your bad fortune—or you can focus on Me. Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled” (John 14:1, KJV). You will not be able to break loose from this struggle until you take responsibility for where you are now and ask Me to bring a quiet peace to your heart. My peace will help you remain calm in wildly frightening situations. It will allow you to experience joy through pain and sing praises in the midst of ridicule. The world doesn’t “get” this—but My peace overrules every struggle you will face.

I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

John 14:27
