I invite you to send your treasures on to heaven, where they will safely await you. When you do, you’ll feel the freedom, experience the joy, and sense the smile of God. When you give, you’ll feel His pleasure.

Open your hands and be generous in your giving. Your gifts to My Kingdom work are an act of worship (1 Corinthians 16:2). You sometimes wonder if you’ll have enough money to take care of yourself and your family, and you’ve hesitated to give because your gift might seem too small. Give in accordance with your means (2 Corinthians 8:12). I never ask you to contribute more than you have or to give beyond your means. Those who have more should give more.

I can’t resist people who give cheerfully. “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully’” (2 Corinthians 9:7). When you give, don’t do it to impress people; do it secretly, and I will reward you (Matthew 6:3-4). When you give to others even when you have personal needs, I see your heart of generosity and your focus on living for things that will outlast your life. “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be” (Luke 12:34).

Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.
