My Defender

My Defender

To me, it has been a source of great comfort and strength in the day of battle, just to remember that the secret of steadfastness, and indeed, of victory, is the recognition that “the Lord is at hand.”

Duncan Campbell

The secret to winning a spiritual battle is to allow Me to be your Defender. The enemy challenges you when you are physically exhausted and emotionally exasperated, and he finds your most vulnerable places. He wants you to believe that you’re too weak to fight, too tired to resist temptation, too defeated to care, and too discouraged to ask anyone else for help. That’s the way he works—wearing you down and taunting, “You’re a failure. Just quit trying. God loves other people more than you, or you wouldn’t be in this situation.”

Stop giving in to the enemy of your soul. Quit trying to defend yourself. Allow Me to be your Strength and your Rescuer. Trust in My unfailing love for you and give Me the opportunity to fight your battles. If you do this, I will provide a way for you to look down in triumph on your enemies (Psalm 59:9-10). Call upon Me, and I will come to your aid. Pray, “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold” (Psalm 18:2, NKJV). Remain in Me, and I will be your Champion.

When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him.

Isaiah 59:19, NKJV
