Loneliness
Loneliness
Aloneness can lead to loneliness. God’s preventative for loneliness is intimacy—meaningful, open, sharing relationships with one another. In Christ we have the capacity for the fulfilling sense of belonging which comes from intimate fellowship with God and with other believers.

Draw closer to Me. The apostle James put it this way: “Come close to God, and God will come close to you” (James 4:8). At times you feel completely alone; you don’t think other people care about what you’re going through, and you wonder where I am. My Son knows what it felt like to be alone. On the cross Jesus felt abandoned, and He cried out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46, NIV). Find comfort in knowing that Jesus understands. He experienced complete abandonment. He was alone on the cross so your sin would never be a barrier between you and Me. Now you can come to Me and experience My presence whenever you’re lonely.
Share your life with others. When you gather with other Christians, there is encouragement and companionship. Your shared relationship with Me gives you a basis for close communication with each other. Ask Me to give you the courage to reach out to other people. I want you to have an abundant life that is filled with close relationships with Me and with My people.
Let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
