You have longings for significance, security, intimacy, and success. At times you expect your life to be much easier, and you believe these hidden desires should result in getting everything you want as quickly as possible. But there is a difference between personal desires and the desires I have placed in your heart. Ask for My discernment as you determine whether your longings are self-driven or God-driven. Remember what I said through My prophet Jeremiah: “My people would not listen to me. They kept doing whatever they wanted, following the stubborn desires of their evil hearts. They went backward instead of forward” (Jeremiah 7:24). You can avoid this problem by aligning your heart with My truth.

I hear your cries for help and understand your desire to be rescued. Remember that I grant the desires of those who fear Me (Psalm 145:19). Allow My Word to renew your mind and expect My Spirit to give you guidance. When your desires are in line with My will, I take deep joy in fulfilling the longings of your heart.

Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
