Passing Through
Passing Through
If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world.
C. S. Lewis
You’ve been longing for a more peaceful life, more ideal circumstances, and more comfortable living conditions. But in your pursuit of satisfaction, you’ve been disappointed. Nothing in the world offers what your heart desires. You’ve talked to Me about some of these wants. Your body hurts, and you’ve asked for a pain-free life. Your loved ones have run away from biblical teaching, and you’ve begged Me to bring them back into a relationship with Me. You have yearned for spiritual direction, but a pastor has made ungodly choices, tempting you to quit looking to church leaders for help. There’s an ongoing restlessness within you, and you don’t know how to handle it.
Here’s the bottom line—you were never meant to be a permanent resident of earth. Because you know Me, you are already a citizen of heaven. As you eagerly await the return of the Savior, life will not be perfect. You will not be totally free of physical or emotional pain. You will experience disappointments, and people will continue to let you down. But the good news is this—this world is not your home. You are only passing through, on your way to your eternal home with Me. Don’t expect perfection here—but keep a forward focus on the place of your eternal residency. You were made for another world!
We are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.
Philippians 3:20
