Hospitality . . . seeks to minister. It says, “This home is not mine. It is truly a gift from my Master. I am his servant, and I use it as he desires.” Hospitality does not try to impress but to serve.

Welcome people into your home. If you have the spiritual gift of hospitality, you have the God-given ability to make people feel warmly received and like part of your family when they visit. But even if that’s not your main gift, make your home available to those who are in need. Pursue opportunities to provide kindness and generosity to others. “When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality” (Romans 12:13).

Make showing hospitality an ongoing, continuous action and do it with a positive attitude. Check your motives and follow this pattern: “Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling” (1 Peter 4:9, NIV). Let your kindness to others be an extension of My hospitality to you. Instead of working too hard on meal preparation, enjoy the time with your guests and invite Me to be a part of the camaraderie around the table.

Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay.
