Kindness

Kindness

Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness—kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.

Mother Teresa

Kindness begins with caring about someone else. My kindness and love toward you were revealed when I gave you the gift of My Son—not because of the good things you’ve done but because of My mercy. I washed away your sins and gave you a new birth (Titus 3:4-5). Kindness is recognizing the needs of others and then taking steps to meet those needs. It’s showing compassion and demonstrating understanding. Kindness is so important to Me that it’s listed in My Word as something My Spirit enables you to live out (Galatians 5:22).

As you become more like Me, you’ll discover that kindness is as natural as breathing. Look around and notice someone who has a need. Allow your heart to be stirred by their needs and begin to think creatively about how you can help that person. Sometimes your kindness will be shown through gracious and affirming words; in other situations you’ll give your time to provide a needed service. Occasionally, your kindness will require a sacrificial gift. Sometimes it will mean being good to your enemies (Luke 6:35-36). Kindness benefits the giver and the receiver. Be tenderhearted and compassionate toward others. My merciful kindness is great toward you. Share that kindness with others.

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
