His Smile
His Smile
The Bible says, “Noah was a pleasure to the Lord.” God said, “This guy brings me pleasure. He makes me smile. I will start over with his family.” . . . God smiles when we love him supremely.
Rick Warren
I created you with the ability to smile. Your smile can brighten a day, give hope to a stranger, and change the mood in a room from despair to hope. It can also bring joy to Me. You may wonder what it takes to make Me smile. The psalmist wrote, “Smile on me, your servant; teach me the right way to live” (Psalm 119:135, MSG). You bring a smile to Me when you live a blameless life, when you think and act in such a way that no one can justifiably point a finger at you.
Review the life of Noah. He brought pleasure to Me as he lived a life of obedience. “Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him” (Genesis 6:22). Like Noah, when you trust Me completely even when you don’t understand why I’ve asked you to do something, you bring Me joy. I’m not asking you to build a big boat, but I am asking you to believe that I know what is best for you. When you know what I want you to do but choose not to do it right away, your delayed obedience is actually disobedience. But when you choose to follow My instructions—even without knowing why I’m asking you to do something—you are living in the smile of My approval.
May the LORD bless you and protect you. May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you. May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace.
