Harvest

God has willed that his miraculous work of harvesting be preceded by prayer. He loves to bless the world. But even more, he loves to bless the world in answer to prayer.

Jesus often looked out at the crowds and had compassion on them. They appeared confused and helpless. I know you often feel the same way, not understanding which way to turn or what to do next. You will learn the secret of climbing out of despair and into a place of hope if you follow this practice: Look around and find someone who is struggling more than you are. He or she might be dealing with a spiritual issue, a physical need, or a mental challenge. Ask Me what you can do for that person. Check your existing resources and then do something to help.

Continue to pray about your role in sowing seeds of hope into that person. Does she need to hear the gospel message? Does he need to be reminded that I love him and care about meeting his needs? Does she need someone to listen to her story? Does he need a hot meal or clothing? As you continue to sow healing and hope into other people’s lives, look for the harvest. It may not come immediately, but it will come. And as you pray that I send more workers to meet the needs of the people you see, don’t be surprised when I ask you to be My representative! Keep sowing good seed and then rejoice in the harvest that will follow.

He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”
