Heart’s Desire
Heart’s Desire
May God so fill us today with the heart of Christ that we may glow with the divine fire of holy desire.

My promise to give you the desires of your heart is often misunderstood. You have quoted this verse, Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires, and then made a list of what you want. By talking to Me through prayer, you’ve demanded things that you think will make you happy—but you’ve forgotten about the conditions for the fulfillment of that promise.
Reread that verse in context: “Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him” (Psalm 37:3-7, NIV). The conditions for getting your heart’s desires are to trust in Me, to do good, to delight in Me, and to commit your way to Me. Then the Holy Spirit will align your desires with My desires. If you do this, you will have a heart on fire with holy desires—and I will delight in giving you all you want.
Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
Psalm 37:4
