Comforting Others

Comforting Others

I believe we go through what we go through, to help others go through what we went through.

Kathe Wunnenberg

Be ready to comfort others in the middle of their suffering. You may feel too weak to reach out to someone else—but that’s the very thing that qualifies you. Suffering often isolates people. They’re embarrassed to always be the needy, hurting ones. Be aware of the pain of others and reach out to them in caring, creative ways. Offer tangible help with their physical needs. Wait with them on an answer to prayer. Weep with them when they go through heart-wrenching loss. The gift of your presence is often more comforting than words.

My plan is that your suffering will not be wasted. Give to others the same hope and comfort you’ve received from Me. By comforting others in the middle of your own weakness, you prove My strength to hold and sustain you during difficult seasons. Let Me redeem your suffering. Take your eyes off your own pain and turn them toward Me for strength. Then bless others with the same comfort I give to you.

He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
