Heart Sacrifices

Heart Sacrifices

A heart sacrifice is not a formula that can be mastered. It is a decision that is intrinsically tied to the personal relationship between us and our God. It is born out of a trust that is developed in spending time communicating with an Abba Father.

Carol Kent

Consider this question: Will you continue to honor and trust Me in the middle of unthinkable circumstances, or will you try to direct an outcome that is way beyond your control? Are you ready to offer Me a heart sacrifice? Will you give Me that person, that loss, that situation, that pain, that disappointment, that anger—whatever is eating you up inside?

Here’s what I’m asking you to do. Identify the source of your anguish. Come to Me in prayer, open your hands, and say, “Lord, I’m letting go of my control. This is my act of worship.” Envision Me picking up your sacrifice and carrying it for you. Embrace My love for you during this process. Now pray, “Father, I will rest in whatever outcome You give me, even if in this lifetime I’m not allowed to understand the reason for the sacrifice and pain involved.” I will never demand a heart sacrifice from you. It must be your decision. You need to choose fear or faith, anxiety or peace, control or release, sadness or joy, pain or comfort. Brokenness is never easy, but it leads to repentance, reconciliation, and hope. Take the risk. It’s worth it.

The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.
