He Is Here

He Is Here

When we practice the presence of God, we train ourselves to desire His presence.

Mark Buchanan

My precious child, you are still trying to figure out what it means to have Me with you every moment. Sometimes that thought is comforting. At other times, you’d like to escape My presence because you want to hide a favorite sin or an unhealthy habit. No matter where you run, I will pursue you. Sometimes you don’t want Me to hear your tirades in the middle of disappointment and unresolved conflict. But even when you try to keep those things from Me, I know every last detail. Instead of feeling smothered by My presence, embrace it. Ask Me to give you victory in the areas of your life that drag you down and prevent you from spending time with Me.

Begin thinking in a new way: God’s Spirit is in me. I am His home, and I want it to be clean, comfortable, and holy for Him. Now enjoy My presence. Ask Me for self-control, wisdom, and ever-growing spiritual maturity. Talk to Me as a child would speak to a father. Tell me about your fears, your failings, your temptations, and your desires. Invite Me to lead you to a deeper, more fulfilling, and richer faith than you’ve ever known before. My hand will guide you.

I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.
