Beauty For Ashes

Beauty For Ashes

Of one thing I am perfectly sure: God’s story never ends with “ashes.”

Elisabeth Elliot

Exchange the ashes of a burned-out dream for the beauty of a life restored by Me. Ashes represent complete ruin and total devastation, and you may feel that describes your life. Some people think following Jesus will mean an untroubled, problem-free existence. But that is not what I’ve promised. “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33, NIV).

Look for the ways I’m turning ashes into beauty. Sometimes it’s through the kindness of a stranger, or through the joy of a restored relationship with a friend or family member, or by the way My Holy Spirit reveals the meaning of a Scripture you’ve read, bringing renewed comfort and peace to your heart. Be aware of My favor through improved health, financial blessings, or wide-open doors for ministering to others. When these things happen, recognize My hand at work in your life. I’m turning your despair into festive praise.

The time of the LORD’s favor has come. . . . He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair.

Isaiah 61:2-3
