Speak, O Lord

Speak, O Lord

[Eli] said to Samuel, “Go and lie down again, and if someone calls again, say, ‘Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went back to bed. And the Lord came and called as before, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel replied, “Speak, your servant is listening.”

1 Samuel 3:9-10

When was the last time you heard the Lord speak to you? Create space to hear God by setting a reminder on your bedside table to rest in the quiet with him before you fall asleep.

Simply pray, “Lord, what do you want to say to me about this past day? About tomorrow?” Lie in the quiet and reflect on anything (absolutely anything!) that comes to mind.

Ask yourself whether the words you hear might be from the Lord. Do they align with Scripture? Are they words spoken in love and grace? Do they point you toward God and his Kingdom?
