My Question for God

My life feels so small and insignificant. How can I make it count for God?

My life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.

Deep within every human heart is a yearning for our lives to count, to make a difference, to be worth something. Most people struggle with feeling insignificant—that they’re not doing anything truly important or making a difference. And many people spend far more time being paralyzed by what they cannot do than acting on what they can do; their inabilities overshadow their abilities. Everywhere they look they see others who are more successful, more gifted, more this, more that. It is no wonder so many of us feel insignificant!

But one of the great lessons of the Bible is that the heroes of the faith—people like Moses, Gideon, Esther, and Peter—were ordinary people who learned that their significance came not from what they could accomplish with their abilities, but from what God could accomplish through their abilities. Significance comes first from knowing that you have been created by God, who has given you specific abilities he wants to use for his purpose. When you use your God-given abilities to accomplish his work, your life becomes significant both now and for eternity.
