What is the benefit of having godly values?

No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

How do you spend your free time? What kind of entertainment do you enjoy? Who are your best friends? What do you think about most? How do you spend your money? Your answers to these questions show what your values are. Whatever you consider important, useful, and worthwhile is what you value. You may have heard someone say, “He doesn’t have any values.” But such a statement is simply not true. Everyone has values, either good or bad. The problem comes when you don’t have God’s values but instead let the world’s values shape you. Your values are clear to those around you because what you do, how you spend your time and money, and what you talk about show exactly what you value most. When you value God the most, it will be reflected in the words you speak and how you spend your time, energy, and money. When you love and worship the Lord, obey him wholeheartedly, trust him with your future, and serve him by serving others, you are displaying godly values.
