Testing

Testing

MY QUESTION for GOD

Does God test the quality of my faith?

A MOMENT with GOD

Some time later, God tested Abraham’s faith.

Genesis 22:1

The Lord your God is testing you to see if you truly love him with all your heart and soul.

Deuteronomy 13:3

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.

Romans 5:3

However, when ambassadors arrived from Babylon to ask about the remarkable events that had taken place in the land, God withdrew from Hezekiah in order to test him and to see what was really in his heart.

2 Chronicles 32:31

God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else.

James 1:12-13

Students are tested regularly to see if they are retaining and understanding the material they are learning. Auto consumers routinely take test drives to determine the quality of the vehicle they want to purchase. Companies invest vast sums in testing new products to guarantee they will perform as advertised. In the same way, our character and spiritual commitment are tested by the fires of hardship, persecution, and suffering. The Bible distinguishes between temptation, which Satan uses to lead us into sin, and testing, which God uses to purify us and move us toward spiritual growth and maturity. Out of testing comes a more committed faith. Just as commercial products are tested so that their performance can be strengthened, so also God tests your faith to strengthen you so you can accomplish all God wants you to do. When you feel like your faith is being tested, see it as a divine moment when God is working in your life to get your attention and to strengthen your relationship with him.

DIVINE PROMISE

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. James 1:2-4
