Temptation
Temptation
MY QUESTION for GOD
Why do I give in to temptation?
A MOMENT with GOD
One day when Samson was in Timnah, one of the Philistine women caught his eye.
Judges 14:1
You have heard the commandment that says, “You must not commit adultery.” But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Matthew 5:27-28
Late one afternoon, after his midday rest, David got out of bed and was walking on the roof of the palace. As he looked out over the city, he noticed a woman of unusual beauty taking a bath. He sent someone to find out who she was.
2 Samuel 11:2-3
So guard your heart; do not be unfaithful to your wife.
Malachi 2:16
While Samson was in town, he noticed a beautiful woman. Temptation often begins with the eyes and travels quickly to the heart. What you do immediately after you see something or someone that poses a temptation for you will affect your thoughts and actions beyond the situation at hand. If you let your eyes linger where they shouldn’t, your mind will follow and will find ways to justify your gaze. Then your heart will start tugging you in that direction. The first step in avoiding temptation is taking your eyes off whatever may be tempting you.
DIVINE PROMISE
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. 1 Corinthians 10:13
