MY QUESTION for GOD

In the battles of life, when is it wise to surrender?

A MOMENT with GOD

Calling the crowd to join his disciples, [Jesus] said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me.”

Mark 8:34

We died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. . . . We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. . . . And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.

Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ.

Philippians 3:8

Many of the greatest battles in history concluded with surrender. One side realized they were powerless against the other, and to save themselves they admitted defeat and raised the white flag. In the spiritual realm we fight two great battles, and surrender plays a part in both. On the one hand, we fight against sin and its control in our lives. If we are not allied with God, we will surrender to sin and its deadly consequences. On the other hand, we often foolishly fight against God and his will for us because we want to have ultimate control over our lives. This is the battle in which surrender is necessary and positive. You surrender to God when you finally realize that you are powerless to defeat sin by yourself, and you give control of your life to God. It is only when you have God on your side that you can be victorious in your battle to defeat sin and pursue a better life now and in eternity.

DIVINE PROMISE

Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. Romans 8:5-6
