How can I make myself more available for God’s use?

A MOMENT with GOD

A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. . . . In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary.

1 Corinthians 12:7-11, 22

God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.

1 Peter 4:10

I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.”

Isaiah 6:8

Being available to God includes (1) the continual development of the gifts he has given you and (2) your willingness to use them to serve him in the calling he has given you. Do you know the unique gifts God has given you? If not, find out! Take a spiritual gifts assessment, or ask your friends what they think your gifts are. God gives each individual, including you, a spiritual gift and a special ministry in the church where you can use your gifts to help and encourage others and bring glory to his name. When you use your spiritual gifts, you help fulfill the purpose for which God made you. You can never use up these spiritual gifts; rather, the more you use them, the more they grow, allowing you to make a greater contribution within your sphere of influence. Using your spiritual gifts will give you plenty of divine moments when you find your greatest area of effectiveness for God and do your best work for him by helping others.

DIVINE PROMISE

This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:6-7
