Why can’t I always maintain my enthusiasm for serving God?

A MOMENT with GOD

The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word.

Matthew 13:20-21

You must warn each other every day, while it is still “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God.

Hebrews 3:13

Scorching temperatures, blazing sun, and too many days without rain will bring a drought. Plants wilt, streams dry up—everything is thirsty. You’ve probably experienced that parched feeling, when all you long for is a cup of cold water. Your soul can become dry, too, thirsting for something that will be truly fulfilling. Seasons of drought can come upon your soul when you experience the blazing pressures of life or the heat of temptation. Your desire to know God and serve him wilts and dries up. Just as a farmer must take extra care of his fields in a drought, so you must take care of your soul during times of spiritual dryness. Keep watering it with God’s Word, and God will revive you with a sense of renewed purpose. Just as God sends the rain to refresh the earth, he also sends opportunities to revive your passion and purpose for him. When you see the chance to refresh your soul, act immediately to avoid unnecessary damage to your faith. When you get serious about your faith, your enthusiasm for God will grow by leaps and bounds. To protect your soul from the dangers of drought, read God’s Word daily, study it, and refuse to be deceived by sin. Keep your focus on serving Jesus Christ. As you persevere, God will reward you with a divine moment of more joy than you ever thought possible.

DIVINE PROMISE

The LORD will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. Isaiah 58:11
