Preparation

Preparation

MY QUESTION for GOD

How can I prepare for the challenges of life?

A MOMENT with GOD

Pharaoh sent for Joseph at once, and he was quickly brought from the prison. After he shaved and changed his clothes, he went in and stood before Pharaoh. . . . Joseph’s suggestions were well received by Pharaoh and his officials. So Pharaoh asked his officials, “Can we find anyone else like this man so obviously filled with the spirit of God?”

Genesis 41:14, 37-38

How can you make wise decisions at a moment’s notice? The key is to be prepared by developing wisdom over time. You can’t anticipate everything that might happen in any given day, but when you are prepared spiritually—when you have developed godly wisdom—you will know the right thing to do so God can use you to accomplish good. You will be ready to act swiftly and decisively because you have a wellspring of wisdom to draw upon.

If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.

2 Timothy 2:21

Purity—keeping your heart as clean as possible from the stain of sin—prepares you to be filled with God’s wisdom and guidance so you can serve him and be involved in the work he is doing around you.

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Proverbs 4:23

The best time to prepare for temptation is before you meet it face-to-face. Train yourself in quiet times so you will have the spiritual wisdom, strength, and commitment to honor God in the face of intense desires and temptation.

Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.

Ephesians 6:10-11

Prepare for spiritual warfare by putting on the defensive armor that God has given you—truth, righteousness, knowledge of the Bible, faith, assurance of salvation, and prayer.

Anyone who eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily is guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. That is why you should examine yourself before eating the bread and drinking the cup.

1 Corinthians 11:27-28

Prepare for worship by getting your heart right with God.

Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it.

1 Peter 3:15

Always be prepared to explain what you believe about Jesus and why your faith is important to you. With a little preparation, your witness will have a bigger impact.

Don’t worry in advance about how to answer the charges against you, for I will give you the right words and such wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to reply or refute you!

Luke 21:14-15

Prepare to defend your faith. When attacks come, the Holy Spirit will help you speak with authority and courage. If the Holy Spirit were speaking to you today, would you be able to hear him? Do you know his voice? Take time each day to stay in touch with the Spirit so you will hear him when he speaks to you.

DIVINE PROMISE

There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. John 14:2-3
