MY QUESTION for GOD
How do I keep the proper perspective on life?
A MOMENT with GOD
The people of Israel said to Moses, “Look, we are doomed! We are dead! We are ruined! Everyone who even comes close to the Tabernacle of the Lord dies. Are we all doomed to die?”
Numbers 17:12-13
Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details!”
Luke 10:40-41
The perspective of the Israelites was completely opposite of reality. Instead of seeing the Tabernacle as a place to worship God, they saw it as a place of fear and judgment. What happened? Their perspective of God himself was wrong because their actions had changed from obedience to disobedience. Thus they set themselves up for the natural and painful consequences of sin. Obeying God helps you keep a proper perspective on life. It keeps you focused on what is really important, it leads you in doing God’s will, and it gives you an eternal orientation that impacts the way you live today. When you obey God, you realize that everything you really need is what God already supplies you with in great abundance. When you drift away from consistently obeying God, you lose your perspective. Your actions become selfish, and your thoughts slide toward cynicism and dissatisfaction. If you make God your first priority, he will give you perspective on your activities as well as a desire to obey him. Then you will begin to see the rewards of obedience. Ask God, and he will give you the proper perspective on life.
DIVINE PROMISE
If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. Matthew 16:25
