How do I develop the perseverance to get through tough times?

A MOMENT with GOD

We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead.

Perseverance can be defined as “courage stretched out.” Although God sometimes delivers his people from difficult or painful circumstances, he often calls us to courageous and enduring faithfulness in the midst of trials. According to the Bible, perseverance is not just enduring difficult situations; it is overcoming them with obedience, hope, and joy. If you don’t learn to persevere through your struggles, you will fall into the habit of giving up. But when you persevere until you come out on the other side, you grow stronger in your faith. You see the benefits of obeying God, and you develop the confidence that when problems come again, you will get through them with God’s help.
