Opposition
Opposition
MY QUESTION for GOD
Why do I encounter so much opposition when I am just trying to do what God wants?
A MOMENT with GOD
The local residents tried to discourage and frighten the people of Judah to keep them from their work. They bribed agents to work against them and to frustrate their plans. This went on during the entire reign of King Cyrus of Persia and lasted until King Darius of Persia took the throne.
Ezra 4:4-5
If you are being faithful to God, you can expect persistent opposition from those who don’t want to see God’s work succeed. In Ezra’s account of the Israelites’ rebuilding of the Temple, those who opposed God, God’s people, and God’s work persisted in trying to stop them for almost two decades! God’s adversaries don’t quit after one or two attempts to defeat you. This is true of both human opposition and spiritual opposition. Satan is the enemy of your soul. You must therefore strengthen yourself for a lifelong campaign against the forces of darkness. Dashed expectations of easy success will breed frustration and despair. But the expectation of extended conflict will lead to careful preparation and patient determination. Never forget that no matter how long the battle, victory belongs to the Lord! When you face opposition, rejoice that you are living so effectively for God that his enemies are taking notice. Then look at each battle as an opportunity to experience a divine moment of victory.
DIVINE PROMISE
God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. Matthew 5:10-12
