How do I become a man of integrity?

A MOMENT with GOD

No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Micah 6:8

The Lord asked Satan, “Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless—a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from evil. And he has maintained his integrity, even though you urged me to harm him without cause.”

Job 2:3

Who may worship in your sanctuary, Lord? Who may enter your presence on your holy hill? Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts. Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends. Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the Lord, and keep their promises even when it hurts. Those who lend money without charging interest, and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent. Such people will stand firm forever.

Psalm 15:1-5

Integrity is essentially how well your character corresponds to the character of God. Your goal should be to reflect the heart, mind, and actions of Jesus. Integrity allows you to enjoy fellowship with God and helps you live under his protection and guidance. When you lack integrity, you are more vulnerable to sin and negative consequences, especially the disintegration of your character. Developing integrity is a process. Just as gold is made pure through a refining process that tests the metal with fire, so you are made pure through the refining process of gaining integrity. God uses the everyday trials and circumstances of your life to test you and see how pure you are. If the Lord finds that your heart and actions are becoming increasingly pure through this testing, then your character is becoming more like his, and you are gradually gaining integrity.

DIVINE PROMISE

Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world. 1 Peter 2:12
