Evil

Evil

MY QUESTION for GOD

If God is good, why does he allow evil in the world?

A MOMENT with GOD

The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden—except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”

Genesis 2:15-17

Everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

Romans 3:23

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith.

1 Peter 5:8-9

I went into your sanctuary, O God, and I finally understood the destiny of the wicked. Truly, you put them on a slippery path and send them sliding over the cliff to destruction. In an instant they are destroyed, completely swept away by terrors. When you arise, O Lord, you will laugh at their silly ideas as a person laughs at dreams in the morning.

Psalm 73:17-20

Genuine love requires the freedom to choose. From the beginning, God desired a loving relationship with human beings, so he gave us this freedom. But with ability to make choices comes the possibility of choosing a way other than God’s way. When we choose our own way, it always leads to sin because we are all born with a sinful nature. This breaks God’s heart. But if he hadn’t given us the freedom to choose, he would have created robots, not humans. Evil still exists, and evil people continue to do evil things because they choose to. But you can choose to do what is right. When you do, God is greatly pleased, good prevails, and Satan loses ground. Eventually God will completely destroy the power of evil forever. Until that day, you can overcome evil by choosing to obey God.

DIVINE PROMISE

Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ.
