Discernment
Discernment
MY QUESTION for GOD
What are the benefits of using discernment?
A MOMENT with GOD
I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return.
Philippians 1:10
You need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right. Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.
Hebrews 5:12-14
Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart.
Psalm 119:34
Discernment comes from training yourself to distinguish between right and wrong by disciplining your conscience, mind, body, and senses. The Bible tells us that discernment is necessary to mature in your faith. In fact, it says that recognizing the difference between right and wrong is a developed skill. When you grow and mature in your faith, you will be able to recognize temptation before it overcomes you. You will learn to distinguish between truth and lies, between God’s voice and other voices. When you know the Scriptures, you will be able to discern false teaching or if someone is using a passage of Scripture incorrectly. When you practice discernment and train yourself to detect right from wrong, you will be able to avoid the pitfalls and confusion that so many people fall into. Life works better when you live it the way God created it to work.
DIVINE PROMISE
My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the LORD, and you will gain knowledge of God. For the LORD grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:1-6
