Spiritual Gifts
MY QUESTION for GOD
How do spiritual gifts make me available for God’s use?
A MOMENT with GOD
A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. . . . In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary.
1 Corinthians 12:7-9, 22
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.
1 Peter 4:10
I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.”
Isaiah 6:8
Being available for God to use you includes the continual development of the gifts he has given you. Then you will be prepared to serve him. You must be willing to use your unique gifts to serve God in the calling he currently has for you. Leaders must discover their spiritual gifts in order to be the most effective in influencing others. If you don’t know your spiritual gifts, take a spiritual-gifts assessment or ask your friends what they think your gifts are. God gives each individual a spiritual gift (sometimes more than one!) and special opportunities to use those gifts to help and encourage others. Using your gifts fulfills the purpose for which God made you. You can never use up these spiritual gifts; rather, the more you use them, the more they grow and help you make a unique contribution within your sphere of influence. Using your spiritual gifts gives you many divine moments when you find the sweet spot of your effectiveness for God.
DIVINE PROMISE
