MY QUESTIONS for GOD

Why does a loving, sovereign God allow injustice? What can I do about injustice?

A MOMENT with GOD

You have wearied the Lord with your words. “How have we wearied him?” you ask. You have wearied him by saying that all who do evil are good in the Lord’s sight, and he is pleased with them. You have wearied him by asking, “Where is the God of justice?”

Malachi 2:17

How long, O Lord, must I call for help? But you do not listen! “Violence is everywhere!” I cry, but you do not come to save. . . . But you are pure and cannot stand the sight of evil. Will you wink at their treachery? Should you be silent while the wicked swallow up people more righteous than they?

Habakkuk 1:2, 13

If they twist justice in the courts—doesn’t the Lord see all these things?

Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent—both are detestable to the Lord.

Proverbs 17:15

Fear the Lord and judge with integrity, for the Lord our God does not tolerate perverted justice, partiality, or the taking of bribes.

2 Chronicles 19:7

Injustice happens because God created human beings with free will. We have the freedom to choose good or evil, right or wrong. If God hadn’t done it that way, we would only be puppets of a divine dictator, not people who grow to love him. God knew that people needed to have the freedom to choose. He also knew that many would choose wrongly, causing injustice to the innocent. But to think that God condones injustice simply because it happens is contrary to his righteous nature and opposed to what the Bible teaches about sin. God sees every injustice, and he judges it as sin. Leaders have a special responsibility to not look the other way when they see injustice among those they lead. They must do their part to fight injustice. When they do, they create divine moments not only in the lives of those they rescue but in the hearts of those who see it.

DIVINE PROMISE

THOSE WHO PLANT INJUSTICE WILL HARVEST DISASTER, AND THEIR REIGN OF TERROR WILL COME TO AN END.   Proverbs 22:8
