What does God expect of me?

A MOMENT with GOD

What does the Lord your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the Lord your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul. And you must always obey the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good.

Deuteronomy 10:12-13

Human beings have always had a tendency to make religion more complicated than it has to be, but God clearly tells us what he expects of us. Moses concisely summarizes the essential elements of a genuine relationship with God:

1. Fear. Have deep respect and reverence for God.
2. Obey. Live according to God’s will by obeying his commands.
3. Worship. Express your love for God when you worship him with all your heart and soul.

Make sure each day includes these three elements, and your life will be pleasing to God and a wonderful example for others to follow.

DIVINE PROMISE

ALL PRAISE TO GOD, THE FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. IT IS BY HIS GREAT MERCY THAT WE HAVE BEEN BORN AGAIN, BECAUSE GOD RAISED JESUS CHRIST FROM THE DEAD. NOW WE LIVE WITH GREAT EXPECTATION, AND WE HAVE A PRICELESS INHERITANCE—AN INHERITANCE THAT IS KEPT IN HEAVEN FOR YOU, PURE AND UNDEFILED, BEYOND THE REACH OF CHANGE AND DECAY.   1 Peter 1:3-4
