Excellence means performing beyond expectations. An excellent car is not merely one that is bigger than other models but one that performs better, accomplishes its purposes better, and actually makes driving fun. Excellence also helps other people beyond their own expectations. A medical doctor who strives for excellence might develop a new vaccine that saves people’s lives. God is the standard for excellence. No machine has ever been able to duplicate the marvelous complexity that God created in the human body. No artist can paint a picture that rivals a beautiful sunset in the real world. God wants you to pursue excellence because it shows that you care about doing things right, that you care about helping people to the best of your ability, and that you care about modeling the characteristics of the God you worship and follow.

DIVINE PROMISE

WORK WILLINGLY AT WHATEVER YOU DO, AS THOUGH YOU WERE WORKING FOR THE LORD RATHER THAN FOR PEOPLE. REMEMBER THAT THE LORD WILL GIVE YOU AN INHERITANCE AS YOUR REWARD, AND THAT THE MASTER YOU ARE SERVING IS CHRIST.   Colossians 3:23-24
