How should leaders respond to crisis?

A MOMENT with GOD

We worked early and late, from sunrise to sunset. And half the men were always on guard. I also told everyone living outside the walls to stay in Jerusalem. That way they and their servants could help with guard duty at night and work during the day. During this time, none of us—not I, nor my relatives, nor my servants, nor the guards who were with me—ever took off our clothes. We carried our weapons with us at all times, even when we went for water.

Nehemiah 4:21-23

As he led his people in the face of a potential attack, Nehemiah modeled two qualities of a good leader: perseverance and preparation. Nehemiah persevered because he never lost sight of his vision or stopped moving toward its accomplishment. He prepared by anticipating the various forms of attack and equipping his people to defend themselves. They were on guard, armed, and ready. They were mobilized to work together through the crisis. In the face of crisis, good leaders are able to unify their people to persevere in their work while preparing in advance for potential problems.

DIVINE PROMISE

I AM CERTAIN THAT GOD, WHO BEGAN THE GOOD WORK WITHIN YOU, WILL CONTINUE HIS WORK UNTIL IT IS FINALLY FINISHED ON THE DAY WHEN CHRIST JESUS RETURNS.
